About Us

We are Marpole residents who share concerns about spot rezoning and community plans being forced on our neighbourhoods by the City of Vancouver government. In general, we feel that these plans are too drastic and too rushed.

There were two open houses on 23 & 27 February 2016 at the Pearson Dogwood site on W59 Avenue. The City received application from Omni Group for rezoning of the 25 acre site from RT-2 (Two-Family Dwelling) District to CD-1 (Comprehensive Development) District based on the Council-approved Pearson Dogwood Policy Statement, for the purpose of developing a mixed-use development. The proposed floor area is 2.8 FSR (Gross) 287,747 sq. m. (3,097,262 sq. ft.).

MRC is planning a meeting at the later part of April for Marpole Residents to share their thoughts regarding this project. We have also invited the City of Vancouver planning department and engineering department to share with us their view on this project and please feel free to provide your input to the planners. We will keep you informed on the meeting time and location as time progress.

We urge you to take a closer look at this massive Pearson Dogwood plan and feel free to complete the on line survey posted by the City of Vancouver.

On 2nd April 2014, Vancouver City Council unanimously adopted the latest version of the draft Marpole Community Plan. Read our opinion about it here.
Of the current issues, the most pressing are the renewal of the Marpole Oakridge Community Centre and the Pearson Dogwood redevelopment.
